Mr. Begley brings his vision of commitment to continuing the excellence of Loretto Elementary through the development of lifelong learners. He believes that every student can have a profound contribution to society as a result of quality education. As an educator as well as a parent, he believes it is important to give children the respect that they deserve while motivating them to fulfill their maximum learning opportunities.
Since earning a bachelor’s degree in elementary education from Oral Roberts University, a master’s degree in elementary education from Union College and a specialist’s degree in educational leadership from Nova Southeastern University, Christopher has been involved in education for twenty-eight years as a teacher, special programs evaluator, curriculum director, dean, vice-principal, middle school principal, high school principal (Providence School) and going into his fifth year as principal of Loretto Elementary.
He has used his administrative expertise for the Duval County School Board as a program evaluator for the director of special programs, as a member of various educational grant writing teams, and as a member of the curriculum development committee. Having an active partnership with the University of North Florida, he was a part-time faculty member, a member of the Strategic Learning Team, and was on the board of directors for the Jacksonville Urban Educational Partnership. He has given numerous area, district, and statewide workshops on integrated learning and curriculum development. Christopher and his wife, Michelle, have two sons.
Lani Derby serves as the Assistant Principal. She is certified in Level II administration, Educational Leadership, all levels; Elementary Education, grades 1-6; ESOL; and Primary Education, K-3. This is her 24th year in education. Ms. Derby has been instrumental in improving and maintaining student academic achievement at a number of schools as an Instructional Coach and as an elementary school teacher. Ms. Johnson is the newest member of Loretto’s administrative team. She has served as an assistant principal for four years. She was an elementary and middle school instructional coach, as well as an elementary school (grades 3-5) teacher. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from the University of North Florida, and her Master’s Degree from the University of Phoenix. Ms. Johnson is certified in Educational Leadership (All Levels), as well as Elementary Education (1st-6th). She is also Gifted Endorsed.
Ms. Johnson is a proud mother of a seventeen year old son, who inspired her to go into the teaching field. She loves children and the art of teaching! Her favorite past-times are reading, writing poetry, and spending time with family.

Instructional Coach/Gifted Teacher
Kimberly Miller has been with the Loretto family for 10 years serving as fifth grade teacher, gifted resource teacher, and Instructional Coach during her tenure. She is certified in Elementary Education, grades 1-6, endorsed in gifted education, and has recently earned her graduate degree in Educational Leadership. Critical and creative thinking and independent learning are among the tools Mrs. Miller strives to impart to each of her students, all of which set the tone for life-long learning success.
Mrs. Miller and her husband Paul are the proud parents of 2 girls; Meagan who is a new Kindergartener at Loretto and Madison who will be joining us next school year.

Autism Site Coach
Mrs. Kersch serves as the Communication and Social Skills Site Coach. She is certified in Exceptional Student Education, General Education, and Autism Endorsed. She taught for two years in a private school for children with autism designing and implementing Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) programs using such methods as Discrete Trial Training, Natural Environment Teaching, and Mand training. Since then she has been with Duval County both in the classroom teaching children with autism and as Site Coach. Mrs. Kersch is also an on-site director of a local summer camp for children with autism and related disabilities. Her philosophy for children with autism is that every child can learn regardless of their functioning level.

Anita Allen is the Guidance Counselor for Loretto. Mrs. Allen received her Bachelor’s degree at the University of North Florida in Special Education. She taught children with learning disabilities for 9 years before starting her Master’s in Guidance and Counseling. She received her Masters from the University of North Florida in 1984. Mrs. Allen came to Loretto in 1987 as a Guidance Counselor and just finished her 30th year with Duval County Schools.
