Launching Leadership In a Community School

On June 3, 1965, Edward H. White II became the first American to step outside his spacecraft and let go,
effeJason Bloom ctively setting himself adrift in the zero gravity of space. It is with that same pioneering spirit, that we will embark on a new path for Edward H. White High School in 2016-17.  I am honored to lead the school in it's new direction as a Military Academy of Leadership.

In 2016-17 we will launch two degree-seeking Early College programs.  Students will have the option to earn an AA degree through Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University, as well as an AS degree in Cyber Security through Florida State College Jacksonville.

All current programs, including IB, Dual Enrollment, Information Technology, and NJROTC will remain at the school. In addition to the core curriculum of Math, Science, Social Studies, and Language Arts, students will have elective choices such as Art, Music, and Foreign Language. All students will take a Leadership course designed to provide a basic view of the military, develop leadership and citizenship skills, promote patriotism, and instill core values, such as service to the community, and self-discipline. Partnerships are being cultivated with military branches and businesses to provide mentorship, internships and shadowing opportunities.

It is an exciting time to be a Commander, and I am eager to share the growing opportunities for the students, parents/guardians, and community of Edward H. White High School.
