Kirby-Smith Science and Technology Summer Camp 2017
About the camp-
The camp is a two-week intensive experience in science and technology limited to Gifted and high achieving students in the First Coast area. Students will work with faculty using science and technology labs on challenging activities.
Suggested age range, rising 3th-rising 6th graders (exceptions considered)
Camp topics – topics may vary
Robotics, Astronomy, Video game design, Chemistry, Pre-engineering
Computer 3D Animation, Zoology, Video editing and film making,
The camp meets in 2 two week sessions from 9 AM until 4 PM
Sessions will be on the Kirby Smith Campus
Both session 1& 2 are identical other than the dates offered.
Sample daily schedule
09:00 -09:15 Daily orientation
09:15-11:00 Intro to robotics (see above for a complete list of topics)
11:00-11:30 Outdoor activities (flag football, Frisbee tag, etc…)
11:30-12:15 Lunch/computer time
12:15-1:15 Intro to Zoology (see above for a complete list of topics)
1:15- 3:30 Intro to Game Design (see above for a complete list)
3:30-4:00 Daily wrap up/ Student pick up
Fees: $ 450 for the 2 week session. Click on link below for enrollment packet. Fill out forms and attach a check or money order with full amount made out to KSMS. Send or deliver in person to: Kirby-Smith Middle School 2034 Hubbard St. Jacksonville , Fl 32206
Transportation to and from is not provided. Extended day may be available for an additional fee depending on demand.
Campers need to bring daily lunch .
