    SOARING TO NEW HEIGHTS

    Dear Students, Parents/Guardians,

As Principal of Highlands Elementary School, it is my pleasure to welcome everyone to the 2022- 2023 school year. For many of you, it is a warm welcome back to HES; for other families, it is a brand-new educational journey for your children, and we welcome you to the HES family. I hope your summer has gone well and that you are all excited for the beginning of the new school year. I look forward to an exciting year as we collectively strive to foster a culture of academic excellence and 21st century learning environment that is sure to yield positive student achievement. I feel extremely fortunate to be working with such an exceptional group of students, families, and staff members.

This past year we met our School Grade Goals. We are now a ‘C” school. This 2022-2023 school year we are seeking to be an “A” School, and this requires A+ actions. As we embark on new academic benchmarks with new curriculum, we will hold true to Eagle values: Excellence, Effort, and Engagement. This year as we venture into new standards and new curriculum our goal is to develop our students in literacy, mathematics, and science.

Reading: 28% of our students are reading on grade level. Parents, we need your help. For students to learn to read they must read and read often. Our reading goal is 43%and we need the entire community to assist us meeting our school goals.  Our main goal is to ensure that every student is provided the highest quality education possible in a safe and nurturing learning environment. I am confident, that together, we can make Highlands Elementary an even better place for our students to learn and grow. I am honored to serve as the principal of HES. It is truly a privilege to be part of a community where parents, teachers and students care for each other and strive to build positive relationships that support academic and social growth.
