    School is out, but that doesn't mean the learning ends. Team Duval has tons of programs to help keep your child engaged. Check out the offerings below. No matter what program you choose for your child, partner with us in our commitment to keep students engaged and learning this summer! 

      Summer Boost - Elementary

        • Program: Summer Boost Elementary Program

        • Description: A free, six-week learning opportunity to help students in need of remediation prepare for the next grade level. It will provide standards-based instruction in math and reading through hands-on learning.

          This program is for current kindergarten - fourth grades. Space is limited and based on the need for remediation. 


        • Registration: CLOSED for Summer 2023   

        • Dates of program: June 12 - July 21, Monday - Friday.

        • Hours: 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM

        • Transportation: Provided to zoned school

      Summer Boost - Middle School

        • Program: Summer Boost Middle School Program

        • Description: A free, six-week learning opportunity to help students in need of remediation prepare for the next grade level. It will provide standards-based instruction in math and reading through hands-on learning.

          This program is for current fifth through seventh grades. Space is limited and based on need for remediation. 

        • Registration: CLOSED for Summer 2023   

        • Dates of program: June 12 - July 21, Monday - Friday.

        • Hours: 9:30 AM - 4:15 PM

        • Transportation: Provided to zoned school

        • Middle School Program sites: Arlington Middle, Westview K-8, Kernan, Matthew Gilbert, Oceanway, and Twin Lakes.

      Extended School Year

        • Program: Extended School Year

        • Description: This free, 19-day program supports students with disabilities who are in the district's Exceptional Student Education (ESE) Program. For these students, this program is a continuation of the school year. 

        • Registration: Eligibility for this program is determined by the IEP Team. Please reach out to your child’s ESE teacher if you have questions about eligibility. IEP teams may recommend one of the following models:

          • Model A - Home Activities provided 
          • Model B - Related Services Only
          • Model C - Direct full day services
          • Model D - Uniquely Designed Program of Instruction
        • Dates of program: For Models B and C, the program runs from June 26 - July 21. Monday - Friday.

        • Hours: For Models B and C, the times are 8:30 AM - 3:00 PM for elementary. 7:15 AM - 1:45 PM for secondary. 9 AM - 3 PM  for Mount Herman and Oak Hill students. 

        • Transportation: Provided.

      ESOL Summer Program

        • Program: ESOL Maintenance Program

        • Description: The ESOL Summer Maintenance Program is a six-week program that offers currently enrolled ESOL students in grades K through 12 the opportunity to enhance their English language acquisition skills. It provides students opportunities to participate in rigorous and engaging learning activities related to social, academic, and culturally responsive experiences. 

        • Registration: To register, email cariasi1@duvalschools.org   

        • Dates of program: June 12 - July 21. Monday - Friday.

        • Hours: 8 AM - Noon.  

        • Transportation: Provided only to student's zoned school.

        • Elementary program sites: Chets Creek Elementary, Fort Caroline Elementary, New Berlin Elementary, Spring Park Elementary, Venetia Elementary 

        • Secondary program sites: Riverside High, Sandalwood High

      Credit Acquisition

        • Program: Middle and High School Credit Acquisition Program

        • Description: This free, six-week program assists students in need of credit hours to be promoted to the next grade. Specifically, the middle school program serves current eighth graders needing one to two credits to be promoted. The high school program serves current 12th grade students who need up to two credits for graduation. 

        • Registration: Interested families are asked to contact their school's counselor for registration information.

        • Dates of program: For middle school, the program runs June 11 - July 21. Monday - Friday. High school dates vary depending on the school and student. 

        • Hours: For middle school, times are 9:30 AM - 4:15 PM. High school dates vary depending on the school and student.

        • Transportation: Provided for middle school. Not provided for high school.

      Fee-Based Summer Camps

        • Program: Fee-Based Summer Camp

        • Description: This fee-based, seven-week summer camp program provides enrichment and recreational activities.

        • Dates of program: Varies by Site | Monday - Friday.

        • Hours: Varies by Site 
        • Transportation: No Transportation Provided.

      Transportation

        • Summer Routes: Summer school transportation is provided for select summer programs. Summer routes will begin running June 12.  Contact your summer school site for bus route information.

        • Contacting Transportation over the summer: Transportation staff can be reached at 904-858-6200. Their summer office hours are Monday - Friday; 6 AM - 6:30 PM. When calling with a question or concern, please have the following info ready: 
          • The school your student attends
          • Route number
          • Home address
          • Bus Stop Location

        • Parents of Current Kindergartners: If you are planning for your child to ride the bus for a district summer program, you will need to complete a Kindergarten Bus Dismissal Form. This form indicates how you want your child to be picked up after the bus drops them off at their bus stop. These forms are being distributed by your child's school. Please contact your child's school if you have not received one. They need to be returned to your child's school by June 13. 

         

         

      Summer Meals

        • Free meals for children: Free breakfast and lunch meals will be provided for children attending the following district summer programs: VPK, Summer Boost, ESOL, and ESY.  Additionally, through the Summer BreakSpot program, children ages 18 and under can receive free breakfast and lunch meals at multiple school and non-school locations during the summer. Dates and serving times vary.
