June 5, 2023 – There are a couple new top dogs in town! A Belgian Malinois named Maverick and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever/Poodle mix named LEO are two new furry additions to the Duval County School Police force, fulfilling a years-long goal of district leaders to create a K9 unit.
June 2, 2023 - I started my career in education more than 37 years ago at Mamie Agnes Jones Elementary School in Baldwin, and now I will conclude my career as the superintendent of Duval County Public Schools, the 20th-largest school district in the nation.
June 1, 2023 – They’re smarter, they’re faster, and they’re more secure. New smart student ID cards – scheduled to be distributed to all students next school year – will have upgraded technology similar to what is used in hotel keys.
May 31, 2023 – This school year, more than 700 Team Duval seniors will graduate with a new seal on their diploma – the “Duval Ready” designation.
Woodland Acres Elementary was founded in 1956 and has maintained a proud tradition of educating the children in the Arlington community of Jacksonville. As the demographics of the community we serve have changed, so too has the school and the programs we offer. Currently, Woodland Acres serves a diverse student population of approximately 650 students.
