    What is a public record?
The Florida Public Records Law authorizes the public to inspect, photograph and copy public records maintained by the Duval County School District.  Section 119.011(12), Florida Statutes, defines "public records" to include: all documents, papers, letters, maps, books, tapes, photographs, films, sound recordings, data processing software, or other material, regardless of the physical form, characteristics, or means of transmission, made or received pursuant to law or ordinance or in connection with the transaction of official business by any agency.

For media public records requests, please copy Sonya Duke-Bolden, Duke-BoldenS@duvalschools.org.

    Student Records

Student records are not public records and are protected by the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) and Florida Statute §1002.221. Public records requests that contain confidential student information will be redacted pursuant to state and federal laws governing student privacy.

If you are requesting student records of current students, or students who have attended within the last five years, please contact the student's last school of attendance.

If you are requesting student records of former students, please click here to be directed to the Student Records department.

If you are a law firm, organization, etc. requesting student records with a signed release by the parent/guardian or eligible student, please forward the request and signed release to Davala Hunter in the Office of Policy and Compliance.

Please submit all subpoenas to Davala Hunter in the Office of Policy and Compliance.

What if I have a question about the process or a problem with obtaining Public Records?
