Matthew Gilbert, Douglas Anderson Hold Empowerment Events

Both Matthew Gilbert Middle School and Douglas Anderson School of the Arts recently hosted symposiums for young women. Douglas Anderson School of the Arts’ annual “Young Women of Color Empowerment Conference” had a STEM theme this year that was called “Q.U.E.E.N.S (Qualified. United. Educated. Exemplary. In/Nature. Sisters.) of STEM” and included guest speakers and a course in coding. Meanwhile, Matthew Gilbert Middle and Communities in Schools hosted “Step Into Your Purpose.” The symposium featured an array of guest speakers who delivered powerful speeches and personal testimonies in hopes of motivating the young students.
