Stay S.A.F.E.
Speak Out: Let the certified athletic trainer, coach, or parent know ASAP. The quicker someone is aware of a possible injury the quicker an athlete can return at 100%. The longer an injury is hidden the chances increase for it to become severe enough to keep an athlete out a lot longer.
Assess: Get the injury assessed by the certified athletic trainer to see if further medical attention is necessary. If medical attention is needed the certified athletic trainer can work with the team physician to get the athlete seen quickly.
Focus: Take this time to focus on getting better. The sports medicine team will work with the athlete to ensure a return at 100% of their potential.
Ease: Once the athlete is able to participate again ease them back into the demands of the sport. The certified athletic trainer and coach will help to return the athlete to full participation.
