Mandarin High School Bomb Threat Update -- 2:15 p.m.-- Oct. 11

    What Happened

A bomb threat specific to Mandarin High School was received earlier.

Working with law enforcement partners, it was determined that the school was safe to open this morning.

    What We Are Doing

    2:15 Update:

Students are returning to the building. Dismissal beginning. Normal buses will be running but delayed. Parents may come to the school at 2:20.

2 p.m. Update: The sweep of the school remains ongoing. Dismissal will be delayed. Please continue to monitor this site for further updates.

12:45 Update: We recognize that normal dismissal time is approaching. Our school buses are staging at a nearby school.

If we are not able to dismiss using normal dismissal procedures, we will inform you of alternative dismissal procedures.

Please continue to monitor this site for updates. We will also make updates via telephone.

As of 12:30 p.m. there is no change in the status at the school. We continue to hold the students in a safe location. More information will be provided as it is available.

Out of an abundance of caution, it was determined that it would be in the best interest of student safety to evacuate the building.

Students are currently safe and secure outside the school buildings.

    What You Should Do

2:15 Update:  Dismissal is in progress. Parents picking up children may come to the school at 2:20.  Buses running as normal but delayed.

Please do not come to the campus at this time.

When we are capable of securely checking students out of the school, we will begin to do so.

We have provided a parent congregation point at Christ Church Mandarin 6045 Greenland Road. It is not necessary to go to this site. It is only provided if you would like to be closer to the school.

We will continue to update this site regarding student checkout and dismissal as that information becomes available.
