Hello Paxon School for Advanced Studies, this is Dr. Turner. It is my prayer that this message finds you and your family in good health and spirits.
As we move forward with our online learning model I wanted to provide information that may assist you. First of all, the schedule for the online day will begin Monday at 8 AM and continue until 3:20 PM. We will mirror our times and periods to keep our students in the same routine as much as possible. We have attached a schedule to this message and you can find a copy of the schedule on our website as well. During the office hour portion students may communicate directly with the teacher. If for some reason a student is unable to participate in the class during the regularly scheduled time, they may view the course later with no office hours attached. Students must sign into the course to be marked present in the class. To learn more about how Teams works, please visit the DCPS Duval Homeroom site here: https://dcps.duvalschools.org/duvalhomeroom.
Secondly, it is important that families stay connected to the school. To facilitate this, we will submit emails and phone messages to households until we are comfortable with the process. Please stay connected so that we can keep you informed.
Next, please note that prom and GradBash have been cancelled at this time. We will provide information in the future about refunds to students.
If your child is in need of a device to participate in the online format and you did not receive one during the first round of distribution, please contact the technology department at 904 348-5200 to inform them.
Finally, our school counselors will continue to be available to provide assistance to students. If your child is in need of counseling services, they may contact the school and speak with a counselor.
This time period is very different for all of us. It is our intent to continue providing a quality education like no other to your student. This effort will require patience and understanding from each of us. We know that we can make this happen and we will. We are Paxon and we have the highest of expectations.
We have developed a partnership to provide free hotspots with 10GB of internet access per month for high school students. Students can sign up through their OneView accounts and will need parent approval. These hotspots will be available on a first come, first served basis. Click the link below for more information.
