The Supporting Talent and Recruiting Teachers Program, S.T.A.R.T, is a collaboration between DCPS District and Florida State College at Jacksonville (FSCJ, Saint Leo University, and the University of North Florida (UNF) to support personnel in becoming credentialed, highly effective teachers in DCPS district areas of Early Childhood Education, Exceptional Student Education, Elementary Education K-6, and Middle Grades Education. This initiative will help DCPS staff the numerous teacher vacancies with exemplary teachers, who understand the culture, strengths and challenges of DCPS students.
This two-year to four-year program assists Paraprofessionals, UOPD, and Civil Service employees in obtaining teaching credentials and teacher certification. Employees are eligible with: Duval County Public School District endorsement.
S.T.A.R.T offers the opportunity to engage in professional development and acquire a teaching certificate from a state-approved education program allowing them to transition into a DCPS teaching position.
