Duval County Public Schools

 Who is eligible for the S.T.A.R.T Program?  

           Any Civil Service, Paraprofessional, or UOPD who is a Duval County Public Schools Employee.

 How long is the Program?

         The program can take anywhere between 2 to 4 years! It depends on the amount of college credits that the applicant holds. If an applicant has already earned an Associate's Degree, it will only take two years. If the applicant has some college credit or no college credit, it will take 3 to 4 years to complete the program. The program assists in earning a Bachelor's degree.

 Who are the college/university partners?

         Saint Leo University is our first college/university partner in this opportunity. We are now expanding to Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ) and the University of North Florida (UNF).

 Are there any prerequisite requirements?

         You must complete and pass the interview with the S.T.A.R.T team. The interview includes a sample lesson plan.

 How much does the degree cost?

         There is little to no out-of-pocket expenses to earn the degree. Each financial award is unique. We will assist you in the financial aid application process.

 What type of support is available?

         Participants will have a College/University Academic Advisor who walks each participant through class selection and assistance with assignments. The DCPS HR Evaluations Department is also there to guide participants through studying of the General Knowledge Test and provide support in academics.  

 Can my family or friends join? 

         Currently, the program is designed for Duval County Public School Employees. 

 What if I already have a Bachelor's or Master's Degree?
