Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act (ADA)
The Office of Equity and Inclusion/Professional Standards (OEI/PS) reviews requests for reasonable accommodation under the ADA (Americans with Disabilities Act Amendments Act, as amended).
- A person with a disability may submit an application to the OEI/PS.
- A site visit will be scheduled after the documents are reviewed in order to speak with the applicant and his or her supervisor.
- A determination will be made thereafter as to the appropriate accommodation available, taking into account the District’s resources.
- Accommodations are granted for a period of one year only. Once an accommodation is granted, applicants must report their status annually to determine whether the accommodation granted is still effective, additional accommodations are needed, or accommodations granted are no longer needed.
