Awards- Landmark Concert Choir received a Superior rating at Music Performance Assessment this year! This is the highest rating students can receive and we are the only non-magnet middle school to receive this award in Duval County!
Ms. Rebecca Azelton has always loved music and began playing piano when she was 7 years old. She later attended First Coast High School where she became involved in chorus, the Singing Buccaneers, which inspired her love of vocal music. Ms. Azelton then went on to earn her Bachelors of Music Education from Southeastern University. During her time at SEU, Mrs. Azelton was involved in multiple choral ensembles and performed the lead role in the musical production The Pirates of Penzance. After graduation, she moved to Texas where she began her teaching career. She then spent two years teaching in Beverly Hills, California where she taught both elementary music and middle school vocal music. Ms. Azelton later returned to Jacksonville and began teaching at Landmark. She has now been teaching 20 years, and it is her 17th year at LMS. In that time, the Landmark Chorus has had many successes including earning Excellent and Superior ratings at Music Performance Assessment. Ms. Azelton directs the Concert Choir and Chamber Choir here at Landmark. She also teaches Exploring Music classes. Her professional affiliations include Florida Vocal Association and Florida Music Education Association
