Landmark Symphonic Band received a Superior rating at Music Performance Assessment this year! This is the highest rating students can receive and we are the only non-magnet middle school to receive this award in Duval County!
Mr. Jacob Grimes began playing flute in 6th grade as a member of the Millennium Middle School Band program. The following year he started learning to play bass guitar and became active in music with his church. In high school, Mr. Grimes was a part of the Wind Ensemble, Jazz Band, and joined the Lyman High School Marching Greyhounds. By his senior year, he was one of three drum majors for the marching band. He then attended University of Alabama where he played with the Million Dollar Band for two years. While earning his Bachelors of Music Education, he was also a member of Concert Band, Symphonic Band, and Flute Choir at the university. Mr. Grimes has been teaching at Landmark for 5 years where he directs Beginning Band, Concert Band, and Symphonic Band, and teaches Exploring Music. His professional affiliations include Florida Band Association and Florida Music Education Association.
