About Transportation

• A contracted fleet of more than 850 buses transports approximately 47,000 students annually.
• According to the National Highway Transportation Safety Administration, the school bus is the safest vehicle on the road.
  
• A student is much safer taking a bus to and from school than traveling by car.
• Transportation is provided to students who live more than 1.5 miles from the school they attend.
• The distance to a bus stop can be up to one mile with exceptions for students participating in choice, special programs, alternative programs, and/or those with exceptional education requirements.
• Secondary magnet students will have “Express Routes” with stops made primarily at schools, near schools, or approved public locations which may be more than a mile away.
