    Mission

    The mission of the Extended Day Program (EDP)is to support working parents by providing an affordable, safe, and nurturing extended day enrichment program designed to enhance students educationally, socially, culturally, emotionally, and physically.

    Special Needs

    The parent of a student with a disability who wishes to enroll the student in Duval Afterschool Programs must contact the Extended Day at the school to provide information about the child’s disability. The parent may contact the site Extended Day Director using the Request for Accommodations Form. The Request for Accommodations Form is available on the Website. For any concerns, contact the Duval Afterschool Programs at 904-858-6080.

    Registration Guidelines

    Duval County Extended Day Programs are available when school is in session. Please visit the Duval County Extended Day Programs website for the link to request enrollment for your student. Extended Day registrations will only be approved if the child is a current student. Pending contracts are reviewed and approved daily if seats are available. Contracts must be paid in advance before a child can attend. Any contract that is not paid in advance when the contract is accepted will be forfeited to the next student on the waiting list. Upon registration, your account will be charged for the payment cycle they will be entering. Accounts will not be prorated. Some registrants will be charged two payment cycles depending on the date of registration per the payment schedule.     Enrollment & Attendance Requirements

    Students must be a current Duval County student to register for an Extended Day Program. Approval for all programs are based on seats available at each school site. Directors will respond to an application with 48 hours. Parents and guardians can register their child on the Duval County Public Schools Afterschool Programs website. Students must be in attendance at least half of the school day until dismissal to attend an Extended Day Program. The afterschool programs are designed to engage students academically, socially, and physically in a safe environment. To maintain the integrity of all school sites, the Duval County School Student Code of Conduct is enforced

     Wait List

    If the site requested is at capacity, the family will stay at a pending status. The Extended Day Director will notify families through email when a seat is available. 

    Extended Day and Eleyo Requirements

    All students enrolled in the Extended Day program must register through the Duval County Public Schools Eleyo student registration platform. Each school sites enrollment is based on the staff available to meet the Department of Children and Families teacher to student ratio. Every student registered is afforded the same approval and opportunity as other applicants.

    • Students have a profile on the Duval County Public Schools Eleyo website.
    • There is one account per family. Multiple accounts will be deleted.
    • All past due payments and accounts on the Dual County Public Schools debt list must be paid in full before a registration will be approved. This includes past due and non payments on the list from previous schools.
    • Payments must be paid online.
    • Late payment fees will not be waived. Extended Day Site Directors follow the payment schedule designed by the Duval County After Schools Department.
    • Parents must update their Eleyo Account if there are any changes. This includes but not limited to: adding or changing authorized pickup list, telephone number changes, address changes, updated allergy list, and any other changes. Once changes are made, they must email the site Director to ensure the changes were added successfully.
    • All late fees including late pick up fees are due when they post to the Eleyo account. Failure to pay late fees will result in dismissal from the Extended Day Program.
    • Accounts that have a balance that is not paid within 30 days will be put on the Duval County Public Schools debit list.
    • To withdraw from the Extended Day program, parents must fill out a withdraw form located on the Duval County Extended Day webpage 

    Student Custody

    Florida law provides both legal parents on the birth certificate equal rights to access their child’s records when requested. The law further states that legal parents or guardian may assign authorized pick-up adults as needed for their child. Court ordered changes to custody must be brought to the afterschool site and will be followed according to the legal documents presented. The court order will remain in effect until a new set of orders is provided to the school site. Custody issues should be managed between parents and not the Duval County School Afterschool Programs. Duval Afterschool Programs will not be involved in any custody disagreements and will follow the policies of The 2023 Florida Statutes (including Special Session C.

    Payment Schedule & Rates

    Payment schedules and rates can be found on the Duval County Public Schools Afterschool Programs website. A student can be dismissed from an Afterschool Program after three late payments are received. All payments must follow the Duval County Afterschool payment schedule. If schools are closed for any reason (weather), your child’s account will be credited the number of days not used. When the school makeup days are established, the weather days that were changed to school days will be charged.

    Arrival and Departure

    All students must be signed in and out by an authorized person designated by the parent or guardian. At the time of pick-up an ID will be required to release the child. There is no exceptions. The safety of our students is of upmost importance.

    Notification of Parent Information Change

    It is the parents' responsibility to update all contact information on the Eleyo website. This includes but not limited to; emergency pick ups, phone numbers, or address changes 

    Student Discipline and Guidelines

    The same standards that are enforced during the regular school day will be enforced during the Afterschool Programs. Children are expected to demonstrate respect toward their peers and adults through their actions and words. We welcome input from parents concerning circumstances at home and away from the school environment that may affect a child’s behavior.

    General Behavior Expectations

    1. Students registered in any Afterschool Program, will follow the Student Code of Conduct provided by the Duval County School Board.
    2. Students must report to their extended day group without delay after the regular portion of the school day. 
    3. Students are not allowed to return to their school day classrooms for any reason during Afterschool Program hours of operation. 
    4. Instructors must be obeyed and treated with respect. 
    5. Respect for other persons and their personal property must always be displayed. 
    6. Foul, abusive or obscene language will not be tolerated 
    7. Good sportsmanship and fair play should be practiced at all times. 
    8. Horseplay, fighting, throwing any objects, or hitting other students or instructors will result in immediate disciplinary actions. There are no warnings for anyone putting their hands on another person. A referral will be written. 
    9. Whenever traveling throughout the school property without adult supervision, all students must travel accompanied by another student (the buddy system). 
    10. All injuries, regardless of how small, are to be immediately reported to the instructor. Toys and Electronic Devices Toys and electronic devices are not permitted on the Duval County Afterschool Programs as outlined in the Student Code of Conduct 

    Discipline

    The following steps are taken for inappropriate behavior:

    Step 1. Verbal Warning

    Step 2. Written Recommendation

    Step 3. Parent Conference

    Step 4. Dismissal from the program

    Parent or Guardian Expectations

    1. Parents are expected to communicate with staff members in a professional and respectful manner. 
    2. Parents should communicate all concerns with the director on duty. Afterschool Programs are a separate entity from the school day. All Afterschool concerns will be redirected back to the afterschool directors. 
    3. Parent behaviors such as screaming or arguing with any Afterschool personnel will be an automatic dismissal from the program. 

    Violence or Threats to Commit Harm

    Duval Afterschool Programs follows Duval County Public Schools’ Code of Student Conduct related to acts of violence. Threats are taken very seriously, even those made in jest. When a threat is made, the Site Manager will implement the administrative procedures requiring a threat assessment screening. Duval Afterschool Programs complies with Duval County Student Code of Conduct.

    Dismissal from Extended Day Programs

    All Extended Day goals are to meet the needs of all families and students however dismissals may occur from one of the following: 1. You have two late pick-ups, and a third occurs. 2. Your child is unable to be safe and to respond to the staff/child ratio. 3. You fail to cooperate with the established guidelines and procedures of the program. 4. Your child has progressed through the Discipline Procedure Steps reaching a fourth Parent Conference and/or serious/repeated behavioral issues. 

    Afterschool Staff

    Duval County Afterschool staff is required to complete the Department of Children and Families training at the Elementary School sites. All site directors and assigned staff have current CPR/ First Aid Certification. All staff members have passed a level two background screening in accordance with the Duval County School Policy.

    Homework

    All sites offer homework time within their daily schedule. Homework times vary at each site. Please reach out to your sire director for a daily scheduled for your child. 

    Snacks

    Snacks are required for all Afterschool Program students. Some sites have a snack and supper program.

    Medical Emergencies

    In the event of a medical emergency, the parent or guardian will be notified immediately. Your specific instructions regarding action to be taken will be followed. Duval Afterschool Programs personnel will take appropriate action if the parent cannot be reached. The action on the program personnel does not obligate the personnel or the school to assume financial responsibility of treatment for your child.

    Immediate Pick-Up

    Students must be picked up from the Afterschool Program immediately for the following: 1. fever of 100 or higher 2. vomiting 3. acting lethargic 4. broken bone or sprains 5. soiled pants without a change of clothes 

    Medication

    Duval Afterschool Programs only accepts rescue medication such as an Epi Pen and inhalers.

    • A physician must order the medication, prescription or non-prescription.
    • All medications must be in the original pharmacy packaging with proper labeling with student’s name.
    • You must complete an Duval County, Authorization for Prescribed Medication form for each medication your child is to receive.
    • All medication will be administered by a trained Duval County School employee.

    Students may not carry medications at any time unless it is written necessary by the physician.

    Accidents

    Should an accident occur while your child is attending a Duval County Extended Day Program, you will receive either notification either by phone or in person depending on the severity of the incident. Please be mindful that some students do not notify teachers and staff and wait until they get home to tell their parent. If this occurs, please email your site director immediately with as much information as your child gives. An accident report will be given to the parent as soon as it is completed by the staff member that was in charge of the student.
