    Dear Students and Parents,

     

     

    Welcome back to Mattie V. Rutherford Education Center (MVREC) for the start of the 2019-2020 school year.  I hope you had an enjoyable summer break and ready to return focused on achieving your academic goals, completing your time at MVREC, and returning to your home school.   As always, students are my main focus at this educational institution.   You will be held to high standards and expected to demonstrate the skills, abilities, knowledge, and potential to be successful academically and socially.

     

    First and most importantly, a safe and healthy environment that is conducive for student

    learning is our main priority.  Our administrators, instructors, and support staff are committed to working as a cohesive unit to ensure that you feel safe and ready to learn.   We are committed to being visible, accessible to assist you at all times. 

     

    We will continue to implement our current uniform policy.  Each grade level will continue to wear a specific color polo style shirt with khaki pants only, No Shorts!   (Elem. – Navy Blue,   6th Grade – Black,   7th Grade – Red,   8th Grade – Grey)   Students will not  be allowed to wear black or blue pants.  Students are not permitted to wear boots, pull-over hoodies, hats, bandannas, or any other head garments on campus. Also, you are not allowed to bring any electronic devices (iPods, cell phones, iPads, MP3 players, game systems etc.) to school.  Please leave all prohibited items at home.  If any electronic devices or prohibited items are brought to school, they will be confiscated by school personnel and will not be returned to the student.  A parent will have to come and pick up the prohibited item.  Phone calls to the school or principal will not be accepted to return items to students.    Included with this letter, is the complete uniform policy and items students are prohibited from bringing to school.  Student ID badges will be issued to bus driver for bus safety and identification in case of an emergency.  Parents, students are expected to come to school prepared and ready to learn daily. It is imperative that students bring the necessary school supplies such as 3 ring binder, pens, pencils, paper, each and every day.   

     

    As always, I am extremely excited about the start of the new school year.  I am dedicated to ensuring we provide the best opportunity for our students to achieve greatness at MVREC.  Every year brings new challenges and opportunities for our students.   Collectively, we must all work together to ensure that our students meet the goals academically and socially.    As the educational leader of this institution, I challenge each of you to maximize your potential each and everyday.
