What can a school counselor help me with?
Goal setting, time Management, college readiness, career readiness, social and emotional concerns, organizational skills, test taking and study skills and a wide range of topics not listed either in the classroom, individually and/or in small groups.
How often are credit checks completed toward graduation requirements?
Individual credit evaluations are completed during registration each year prior to the scheduling of classes for the coming year. Seniors have additional individual credit checks in the fall of their senior year and again in January of the senior year. This confirms graduation requirements are met. A curriculum guide describing the courses available to satisfy the needs, abilities, and interests of each student is provided to every student and parent through the guidance department.

Mission: It is the mission of the SHS School Counseling Department to deliver a multi-layered, comprehensive, and accountable school counseling program in which equity, access, and academic success for all students is the focus.
Vision: It is the vision of the SHS School Counseling Department to recognize and address all barriers to ensure student receive a quality educational environment that promotes social responsibility, emotional well-being, and academic excellence in high school and beyond.
How do I request a teacher conference?
Contact the student’s appropriate Administrator's house office. Female students report to the Gold House 904.646.5100 ext. 1239. Male students report to the Blue House 904.646.5100 ext.1322.If your student needs to be checked out of school early, please contact the appropriate Administrator's Office. Please contact Mr. Jenista Brown for matters regarding attendance.
