Hi TJ Family!
This is Mrs. Turner, your principal. I want to update you on the opening of school. This year you are urged to have the following apps to maintain the best possible communication: Focus, Teams, and Class Dojo. These will be discussed at Orientation.
Orientation will be virtual this year. Mrs. Turner will post a message to the parents on our school's website this coming Wednesday, August 12th. Each teacher will post an Orientation PowerPoint in the Teams app on Monday, August 17th. Teachers will hold a live question and answer (Q&A) session in Teams on Tuesday, August 18th, on the following schedule:
Kindergarten- 9:00; 1st grade - 10:00; 2nd grade - 11:00; 3rd grade - 12:00; 4th grade - 1:00; 5th grade - 2:00.
Class assignments are in the process of being finalized as Duval HomeRoom students are being enrolled. We will mail home class assignments next week, but we will also announce when they are available for parents to view in Focus.
Supply lists will be mailed at the same time as class assignments, but they are already posted on our website at www.duvalschools.org/tjefferson. Please note that several teachers have added face masks to the list, as it is now a safety requirement for students to wear them.
School Supply Drop-off
In order to prevent students from being weighted down with school supplies, we will offer a drive-by school supply drop-off on Monday, August 17th, from 9:00-12:00. Students who checked out laptops and are returning to our building should return the laptop at this time or on the first day of school. If these times do not work, please call the office to schedule a drop-off before school starts.
Duval HomeRoom Materials Pick-up
In order to provide Duval HomeRoom students with the same instructional materials as brick and mortar students, we will offer a drive-by materials pick-up for those students on Monday, August 17th, from 1:00-2:00.
Parents may now register for Extended Day online only at www.duvalschools.org/extendedday . The monthly cost is still $52 for the morning and $100 for the afternoon.
Thank you for your patience regarding the production of our 2019-2020 yearbook, which was disrupted due to the pandemic. We will notify the parents who paid as soon as it becomes available.
Please know that the health and safety of our students, staff, and families is our number one priority. We will be wearing face masks, washing hands, using hand sanitizer, taking temperatures, and social distancing as much as possible. For safety reasons, no one will be allowed to enter the building except students and staff, even on the first day of school. However, we will give our students a warm welcome and gently guide them as they arrive. Our procedures will be explained during your Orientations.
Have a great weekend!
