• General Audition Information

Thank you for your interest in Douglas Anderson School of the Arts.  The application window for the 2023-2024 school year is now closed.

If you missed our General Audition Information Session held on February 6th, you may view the recording here.

In January and early February, those who have completed the Audition Application will be contacted by our admissions office, via e-mail, with an audition date and time.  Please review the audition requirements for the interested Art Area. All application paperwork, including letters of recommendation, report cards, etc, must be submitted via the Audition Application links above.  Please do not e-mail any audition paperwork directly to the school.

    Entrance Requirements
    • Acceptance to Douglas Anderson is by audition only.

    • Students must minimally be at an intermediate skill level.

    • Two recommendations are required.  Requests for recommendation letters are done through SlideRoom (the audition application software) only.  Please include two names and email addresses in the reference section of the application.  SlideRoom will send an email to your references for them to submit their recommendation.  We will not accept recommendation letters via email or in person.

    • A copy of the student’s most recent report card must be submitted. A 2.0 Grade Point Average is required. Florida law requires a minimum 2.0 grade point average for participation in state performances, which includes All-State, State Thespians, gallery showings, and other school-related activities.

Your audition will include an interview in addition to other arts area requirements.

In order for your child to audition for Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, the above steps must be completed. Douglas Anderson is not part of the school choice/magnet lottery!

Douglas Anderson offers a four-year, full academic curriculum, which includes honors, dual enrollment, and advanced placement courses. The advanced intensive arts curriculum includes visual arts, dance, vocal, band, orchestra, guitar, piano, cinematic arts, creative writing, and theatre (including performance, technical, and musical theatre). A minimum of 12 courses in the student's arts major is required.
    Additional Contractual Agreements
All arts areas require fair share contributions. The amount varies among arts areas and performance groups. (Fund-raising opportunities are provided for all students to earn the fair share.) Additional area-specific requirements that affect a student’s grade may be mandatory. Arts directors will provide more information at new-student orientation.
All students are required to take the core required courses in their arts area curriculum, as noted in the curriculum guide.
