What it Means to be a Board Member
The Duval County School Board consists of 7 members elected by their constituents. They are the official policy-making body for all education related issues for the Duval County Public School System.Salary
Board Member salaries are governed by Florida Statute 1001.395. Below is the section of our Policy Handbook which addresses this issue.
SALARY OF SCHOOL BOARD MEMBERS 2.24
As provided by section 1001.395, Florida Statutes, the annual salaries of the Board Members shall be determined or adjusted as provided by law.

Serve in a quasi-judicial capacity on such items as grievances, expulsions and employee discipline.

Meetings and functions conducted by organizations throughout the City, such as the Chamber of Commerce, Value Adjustment Board, District PTA, District Advisory Council, Joint Planning Commission, School Health Advisory Council, Florida School Board Association, Consortium of State Schools Boards Associations, etc.
