Annual Notification of Nondiscrimination for Vocational Education Programs:
Duval County Public Schools offers career and technical education pathways and academies for all students. The programs offered are Agriculture, Food and Natural Resources, Architecture & Construction, Arts, A/V Technology & Communication, Business, Management & Administration, Education & Training, Engineering & Technology Education, Finance, Health Science, Hospitality & Tourism, Human Services, Information Technology, Law, Public Safety & Security, Manufacturing, and Transportation, Distribution & Logistics. Each program offers multiple strands for both middle and high school students. There are industry certifications that may be earned by students in high school (9-12) and in middle school (6-8) in Duval County Public Schools. The only admission requirement is that the student must show an interest in the program. Many of the programs offered articulate to the state college. If a high school student earns an industry certificate, they may enroll in one of the state colleges in Florida and immediately earn 3 credits based on the industry certificate. The difference between secondary and post-secondary is a student may not be able to complete all of the credits earned due to high school requirements. However, the student can continue at a local college.
The district prohibits discrimination in the terms and conditions of employment and in access to educational programs and activities and prohibits harassment of any individual or group on the basis of race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, pregnancy, disability, marital status, sexual orientation, gender or gender identity, or genetic information, or any other distinguishing physical or personality characteristics.
Lack of English language skills will not be a barrier to admission and participation. The district may assess each student’s ability to benefit from specific programs through placement tests and counseling, and, if necessary, will provide services or referrals to better prepare students for successful participation.
Duval County Public Schools does not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national origin, gender, age, disability or marital status in its educational programs, services or activities, or in its hiring or employment practices. The district also provides equal access to its facilities for the Boy Scouts and other patriotic youth groups, as required by the Boys Scout of America Equal Access Act. Questions, complaints, or requests for additional information regarding discrimination or harassment may be sent to:
