It is with great pride and excitement that I write this letter of introduction to you as the newly appointed Principal of Twin Lakes Academy Middle School. I am honored to have the opportunity to lead a school with such a rich tradition of education. I have been dedicated to the field of education for more than twelve years. I have worked with a variety of students' ranging in age from Kindergarten through middle school. My most recent administrative experience was at Alfred I. duPont Middle School where I served as the Assistant Principal of Curriculum. I am excited and eager to bring my skills as an instructional leader to Twin Lakes Academy Middle School and work with you as a partner in education to ensure the success of all children.

Mrs. Shaw has worked with Duval County Public Schools for over 20 years, as an ESE and Math teacher, serving both Middle and High school students.  She is excited to begin her 4th year at Twin Lakes Academy Middle.  She lives by the motto:  “I believe that all children have the right to an education.  I am committed to providing them a safe, structured, highly-engaged learning environment in which ALL students will pursue that right” and  Ascend to GreAtness.

I come to Twin Lakes Academy Middle School after engaging with middle school students for the last 8 years as a Math teacher and Dean of Students. Through my experience, I understand that students take ownership of their learning, resulting in academic growth, when they feel valued. Through collaboration with all stakeholders, it is my goal to provide a safe and engaging educational environment and the most appropriate instruction to all of our students. I am excited to be a part of the Teal Nation!

Mr. Jenkins is a 20-year retired military veteran. He has been an educator in the Duval County School System for over 15 years, working with elementary and middle school students as a teacher and Dean of Students. He is committed to guidance and discipline and believes in the education of America’s youth. He possesses a Bachelor of Science Degree in Elementary Education, a Master’s Degree in Ministry, and a Doctorate Degree in Ministry. His goal is to teach young minds that “education is the key, the right attitude opens the door, but determination and positive behavior makes room for success”.

Ms. Edwards has been a Duval County Public School educator for 13 years. This will be her 12th year at Twin Lakes Academy Middle. She has taught Science, ISSP, Social Studies, U.S. History, Peer Counseling and facilitated a student-centered Restorative Justice program that teaches students interpersonal skills and conflict resolution techniques.                                  One of Ms. Edwards' favorite quotes is:               "The only real mistake is the one from which we learn nothing."    - Henry Ford
