  • PK3-PK4 For the 2021-2022 School Year

    • Eligibility for PK3 - Your child should be 3 years old prior to September 1, 2021

    • Eligibility for PK4 - Your child should be 4 years old prior to September 1, 2021

    At John E. Ford our Preschool Program is a tuition based program, currently $327 per month. After visiting our school, submit an application at The Office of School Choice between January 5 - February 28, 2021. Your application will be processed through the on-time lottery.  Parents will be notified in mid-April via email. The communication will inform you if your child was placed at John E. Ford or wait-listed.


    After visiting our school via our virtual tour, your application will be submitted on-line.  Visit during the on-time application window, January 5 - February 28, 2021 for additional information.  Kindergarten students must be 5 years old by September 1st of the school year you are applying for. Students who attend John E Ford for PK4 will automatically roll up to kindergarten- they will not have to complete an application.

    1st - 8th Grade

    After visiting our school via our virtual tour, submit an on-line application.  Visit during the on-time application window, January 5 - February 28, 2021 for additional information.

    Applications are processed with prior Montessori experience.  Prior Montessori experience is defined as a minimum of a full year from the immediate preceding school year.  

    Magnet Continuity

    Fifth grade students from J. Allen Axson have program continuity to the middle school program at John E. Ford.  Students seeking program continuity between elementary school and middle school must apply during the on-time window.


    John E. Ford students do not need to reapply for 6th grade.


    In the 8th grade students have tiered continuity to Paxon School for Advanced Studies, Stanton College Prep, Darnell-Cookman SoMA and Samuel Wolfson HS.  Students seeking tiered continuity between middle school and high school magnets must apply durign the on-time window.


    Virtual tours will be conducted during the application period for the 2021-2022 school year. Attendees will receive a survey link and code to use to allow tour credit for higher preference  for the prospective student's application in the School Choice lottery. The DCPS Virtual School Choice Expo will be Saturday, January 9, 2021.

    Students currently enrolled in kindergarten - seventh grade must provide proof of prior Montessori experience for a full year from the immediate preceding school year. Tour participation is uploaded to the lottery portal at the close of the on-time application window.
