All students are assigned a neighborhood school based on their home address. State law requires all children ages 6-16 to attend school. All registrants must provide valid documentation to include: proof of birth age, Florida certification of immunization or exemption, record of physical examination, and proof of residency. A kindergarten student must be five years old on or before September 1st. First grade students must have successfully completed kindergarten and be six years old on or before September 1st. School Transfers & Choice/Magnet Applications
Transfers and applying to other schools are based on a variety of factors including space availability, random selection, and adhering to the Choice and Magnet School application process. For detailed information, contact Pupil Assignment at 904-390-2144 and the School Choice Office 904-390-2082.
All Duval County Public School students must meet the requirements for Florida certification of immunization, or possess certification of exemption for medical or religious reasons. Various vaccinations are required for specific grade levels. Exceptional Education & Student Services
The district provides educational opportunities to students who are physically handicapped, mentally handicapped, sensory impaired, emotionally disabled, as well as, gifted. Currently, Duval County serves nearly 24,000 exceptional students.
