  • A native of New  Orleans, LA, Dr. Bassett  offers a wealth of experience in fields of education and athletics.  A graduate of Bethune Cookman University, Dr. Bassett participated in Women’s Basketball and Track and Field for the wildcat’s athletic program.  During her tenure at B-CU Dr. Bassett received numerous academic accolades including being named a 4x All- MEAC academic scholar as well as several athletic accolades. Upon graduating Dr. Bassett went on to obtain a master’s degree in Athletic Administration and Compliance in 2015. Lastly, she completed her doctoral studies  in Educational Leadership and Organizational Management in 2018, where she completed a dissertation on identifying factors which directly contribute to off-task behaviors in the classroom setting. Utilizing this data, Dr. Bassett was able to create a movement-based curriculum to assist with positive redirection of the identified behaviors. Dr. Bassett comes to Charger Nation, by way of Baltimore County Public Schools, with 10+ years’ experience  as a classroom teacher, department chairperson and athletic administrator. Throughout her career she has taught courses in the areas of ELA, PE/Health, and multiple elective courses. Along with her classroom teaching experience, Dr. Bassett also brings 15+ years of athletic coaching/ athletic administration experience. Known for being a transformative leader, in 2016  Dr. Bassett was recognized as being one of Baltimore’s Top “ 30 under 30” for being  named the first woman head coach of a boys’ varsity basketball team in  Baltimore County Public Schools. Dr. Bassett joined team Duval in 2017.Prior to joining the Charger Family, Dr. Bassett served as Dean of Students, Head Football/ Assistant Girls’ Basketball Coach and PBIS Team Lead at Darnell Cookman School of Medical Arts. Prior to Darnell Cookman, Dr. Bassett served as Dean of Students/ Head Girls Track and Field Coach at  Landmark Middle School.  She will serve as the Assistant Principal of Operations for Charger Academy.
