  • This event is designed to help families make the best enrollment decisions for their children for the 2024-25 school year. All schools will be open on their designated Saturday, and families will have a chance to meet school leaders and staff, ask questions, and attend school tours.   
    
    
• When:
  • Middle/High Schools: Jan. 27, 2024
    • Exception: Chaffee Trail Middle School will be hosting on Feb. 3, 2024.
       
  • Elementary Schools: Feb. 3, 2024
    
    • This includes GRASP Academy, John Love Early Learning Center, and John E. Ford K8. 
      
      
• Time:
  • School tours will begin at the following times: 9 AM, 10:45 AM, 12:30 PM, and 2 PM
    
    
• Where:
  • DCPS schools will host tours at their school sites. There are a few exceptions. With campuses being renovated and rebuilt across the district through the half-penny initiative, some schools will have to host their tours at off-site locations. See below: 
    
    
    • Chaffee Trail Middle School will host Q&A at Chaffee Trail Elementary School.
    • Ribault Middle School will host tours at A. Philip Randolph High School. 
    • Ribault High School will host tours at Ribault Middle School.
    • Highlands Elementary School will host tours at Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary School. 

   

• Prepare:
  • Talk with school leadership and other parents to make sure you have all your questions answered: before/after school care, transportation, electives, special programs, clubs, sports, uniforms, etc.

• Applications for Magnet, Special Transfer Option, and VPK schools open Jan. 1, 2024 and close Feb. 29, 2024. 
  
  • The application will be in FOCUS, our student information system, which you will be able to access with your linked parent account.
    
    
  • New families: To access the school choice application:
    1. Enroll in your neighborhood, attendance boundary school (visit our enrollment web page for easy, step-by-step instructions.)
    2. Create your linked parent account
    3. Use your linked parent account to access the FOCUS system
    4. In FOCUS, you will find the school choice application
