Will there be transportation for Highlands students to MLK for the 2023-24 year?
Yes, transportation will be provided for Highlands Elementary students to Martin Luther King Jr. Elementary (MLK) during the transition year.
For the 2023-24 school year, students who normally walk to Highlands will be able to continue walking to the Highlands campus to catch a bus to MLK.
When families register for transportation, they will be informed of the most convenient bus stop to their home. All students who live more than 1.5 miles from the Martin Luther King Jr. campus will be provided with school bus transportation.
However, bus registration is required for bus riders. This is for student safety and to help us balance bus routes efficiently. To learn how to register for a bus visit our bus registration web page.

Do parents and guardians need to register students for transportation?
Yes. All students except those receiving ESE services must register for transportation to ride a bus.

Will we have to register for transportation again?
Yes, registration for transportation is required each year.
If your child will be riding the bus to the new Highlands Elementary campus when it opens for the 2024-25 school year, you will need to re-register your child for transportation next year.

Will Highlands CSS students be served at MLK?
Yes, the CSS classes at Highlands will also transition to MLK for the 2023-24 school year.

Will Highlands have Pre-Kindergarten next year?
Yes. Two pre-kindergarten classes will be offered at Highlands Elementary School on the MLK campus next year.

Will there be other schools on the MLK campus?
No. Highlands Elementary will be the only school operating on the Martin Luther King Jr. campus for 2023-24.
