Dean Joseph Jordan

Mr. Jordan was born and raised on the westside of Jacksonville. After graduating from Ed White High School in 1998 he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, married his high school sweetheart in 2000, and had one daughter that same year.  After his career was cut short after 8yrs of service he transitioned to civilian life and struggled to find his place bouncing from job to job.

In 2013 he earned a degree in Broadcast Communication with a track in print and radio from Jacksonville University. After graduation, as he awaited responses to job applications, he decided to be a substitute teacher and after the first day as a sixth-grade science teacher sub he knew his calling. He immediately began taking steps to become a full-time teacher and got a job as a journalism teacher at Paxon School for Advanced Studies in 2014.

While at Paxon he coached baseball and football, was the advisor for various clubs and organizations including student government and the school newspaper. In 2021 Mr. Jordan felt that his passion for teaching had run its course and he left the profession and attempted to start a business.  Seven months after he resigned his position he realized he missed his relationships with his students, decided to return to the classroom and accepted a role as an intensive reading teacher at Atlantic Coast High School.

In 2022, with aspirations of transitioning into an administrative role, Mr. Jordan passed the Florida Educational Leadership Exam and was accepted into the district Aspiring Leaders program in June of 2023.  In July of that same year, knowing a position as a Dean was a natural progression on his path to an admin role, Mr. Jordan saw BTS High school had an opening, applied and was hired.

His strength is his ability to have any conversation, with anyone, and get results. He believes that every student is capable of far more than even they, themselves believe, so long as they have an adult advocating for them, and he prides himself in providing that advocacy.
