Share your voice: District seeks feedback for new facility plan
The Duval County School Board recently heard a consultant’s proposal to re-draw school boundaries, align feeder patterns, and consolidate many small or low-enrolled schools.
The proposal was developed in response to changing financial projections related to the district's 2019 Master Facility Plan and operational cost challenges due to growth in charter school and private school voucher choice programs. More information about these topics can be found on this frequently asked questions news post.
After the board heard the consultant's initial proposal, the board directed district staff to initiate a strong program of community engagement so all constituencies can have a voice in final recommendations that come before the board.
These web pages are designed to provide constituents with the details of the initial proposal and to provide a mechanism to share ideas and feedback. Here you can see videos about the initial proposals and maps of current feeder patterns and proposed feeder patterns. Most important, a survey is available now through noon on Friday, June 21 for you to privide your input to district staff and the school board. (Note - The survey is now closed.)
If you prefer to speak to board members directly, you can also attend one of the public forums scheduled.
