• Wolverines Westside is home to several Academic,

     Athletic, and Extracurricular programs.

     

    • Fine Arts Program  Westside's Fine Arts Program serves committed, highly motivated students interested in Choral and Instrumental Music, Visual Arts, Speech and Debate, and Journalism. Instrumental Music includes beginning band, advanced band, and instrumental ensemble.  Other instrumental classes include Guitar I and Guitar II. Several classes are offered through our Choral program.  These classes range from beginner through advanced. We offer Chorus I-Chorus IV and Music of the World.  Art is offered and covers a wide variety of topics, from art history to how to paint. All of these courses meet the state requirement for graduation and offers hands-on experience to students. 
    • Culinary Arts.  This program offers a sequence of courses that provides the student with a coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards and relevant skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Hospitality and Tourism career cluster. In Culinary Arts 1, 2, & 3 how to attain food handler training certification (ServSafe) and employment opportunities; employability & management skills; develop a business plan; care and use of commercial culinary equipment; food science; nutrition; meal planning; preparing and presenting quality food products, along with many other aspects of food and service industry. Each course is one year in length and following successful completion of the course, the student will earn one fine arts credit.
    • ROTC. The mission of AFJROTC is to “develop citizens of character dedicated to serving their nation and community.” This citizenship training program is designed to educate and train high school cadets in citizenship, promote community service, instill personal responsibility, character, and self-discipline.  The program achieves this through classroom education in air and space fundamentals and hands on learning opportunities in a number of fun and challenging extra-curricular activities.    The AFJROTC program is grounded in the Air Force core values of “integrity first, service before self, and excellence in all we do.” 

    • AICE. Westside High school is one of three high schools in Duval Country that offer a comprehensive AICE Program!  AICE stands for the Advanced International Certificate of Education and is an acceleration program designed to expose students to rigorous learning and earn college credit.  A student is eligible to earn the AICE Diploma, a specialized diploma that recognizes their achievements as an AICE student by passing seven exams in each of the AICE academic categories.  AICE students can push themselves to earn college credit by passing their exams at the end of the year and earn college credit for these scores.  Colleges look favorably on acceleration courses on a high school transcript.  Your student can set themselves apart as a Wolverine
