    Englewood Families -

It is my privilege and pleasure to continue serving as the Principal of Englewood High School for my fifth year.
Englewood is a special school, something of a "hidden gem" in Duval County.  As the primary ESOL (English Speakers of Other Languages) High School in the district, we serve students from over 30 countries that speak numerous languages and dialects.  The diversity on our campus is a treasure and is central to the vision and mission of our school.

In addition to our ESOL Program, we are also proud to offer incoming students the opportunity to take a variety of Dual Enrollment courses through Florida State College of Jacksonville (FSCJ), Edward Waters College (EWC) and Embry Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU).

Students are encouraged to participate in our performing arts course offerings which include Band, Guitar, Drama, 2D and 3D Art, and Chorus.

We are extremely proud of our highly regarded Army JROTC program which offers cadets both military and academic futures that are unparalled with two instructors who make it their mission to impart the core Army values on all cadets.

Our Career and Technical Education courses, taught by Industry Certified Instructors, include Television Production, Information Technology and our newest program, Sports, Recreational and Entertainment Marketing.

Englewood's six-year partnership with Johnson & Johnson Vision, Inc. has resulted in an Early College Program that is like non-other in the district.  Our Johnson & Johnson Early College Academy of Advanced Manufacturing and Engineering students go through a rigorous program of study that includes paid summer internships at Johnson & Johnson and results in an Associate of Science degree and three Industry Certifications alongside their high school diploma.

We are very proud to serve as the Dual Language High School for the district and will welcome our third cohort of students into the 9th grade for the 2019 - 2020 school year.  These students are taught their core content in both English and Spanish and will graduate with a Seal of Biliteracy on their diploma.

In addition to the specialized and accelerated opportunities noted above, Englewood is also very proud to be a traditional "neighborhood school".  A full spectrum of athletics are offered for our eligible students that include Football, Volleyball, Cross Country, Track, Basketball, Swimming, Tennis, Softball, Flag Football and Soccer.  Students are also able to participate in Cheerleading, National Honor Society, Best Buddies, Latino Rams, Drama Club, Band, Anime Club, Guitar Club, Table-Top Gaming and Robotics, just to name a few.

Prior to coming to Englewood High School in 2015, I spent sixteen years at the middle school level as a teacher, instructional coach, assistant principal and principal, all here in Duval County.  I am keenly aware of the importance of offering students a great deal of support as they transition into their high school journey.  Our underclassmen must focus on building and strengthening their Grade Point Average, which will give them a multitude of opportunities to enroll in college-level courses and be eligible for numerous scholarships.  Our upperclassmen must be encouraged to develop their academic goals, personally track their graduation readiness, push themselves to build their collegiate course resume and engage in community service opportunities.  Our teachers, staff, counselors and administrators at Englewood High School are well-trained and prepared to work with all students to ensure their success in high school and beyond.

On a personal level, I believe deeply in the work I choose to do and I wear the hat of both educator and parent.  My husband and I have been married 16 years and are the proud parents of 14 year old twins, both students in Duval County Public Schools.  I look at every student, not only as their principal, but with my parent eyes as well.  They are each so unique, so special and so important.  They are truly our future, and I take my time with them extremely seriously.  It is my life's work to nuture and grow our future leaders.

Please don't hesitate to reach out to me or any member of the Englewood Administrative Team.  I work with very dedicated and talented Assistant Principals who are able and ready to serve our students and their families each and every day.

    Educationally Yours,
