  • Dear A. Philip Randolph Family,

It is my pleasure to welcome you to Asa Philip Randolph Career Academies. As I begin my first school year as Principal at APR, I am energized and deeply committed to making a positive difference in the lives of your children. We will accomplish this by setting high academic expectations for all children and providing supportive systems to assure they are met. By focusing on a positive school culture, setting high standards for teacher performance, increasing academic expectations for all students and engaging the community, it is our goal at A. Philip Randolph that all students are on track to be college and career ready without mediation.

YOU are the Change is this year’s school theme.  Mahatma Gandhi famously said, "You must be the change you want to see in the world." In other words, although life changes are inevitable, we can also initiate personal change so we can rise to the challenge and become a bigger and better person as a result.  I have no doubt that the students at APR Career Academies with the faculty, staff, and parental support can achieve this motto and instill positive change not only for themselves but for the school and community.

I encourage you to visit our website and become familiar with the handbook and code of conduct expectations. We welcome your involvement and participation in our great school and look forward to working with you and your student as we strive toward an academically successful 2020-2021 school year.  APR’s remarkable staff, involved parents and committed students will come together to make A. Philip Randolph a wonderful, unique place to be.

    Respectfully,

    Megan McKinney
