Fifth Grade
Our students responded to a writing prompt in which they stated their opinion whether or not students in younger grades should switch classes. One argument in support of elementary students switching classes is that it gives teachers more time to be creative when they specialize in one subject. Some of them elaborated with the example of Mr. Welser, our technology teacher, providing students with the opportunity to design a nameplate in Tinkdercad that was printed on the 3D printer. This gave us the idea to create a "Golden Pencil" trophy, a student created writing incentive. Each student designed a trophy. Each day, four students are chosen to keep the trophy on their desk for various examples of writing excellence.*Thank you to Mr. Welser for providing feedback when students emailed him their project and for printing the trophies. In Canva students created posters, summarizing the life and accomplishments of African Americans during Black History Month. -
