ACHS Special Olympics program is considered a “Unified Champion School”.This is an education-based project that uses sports and education programs to activate young people to develop school communities where all youth are agents of change. This is accomplished through our Special Olympics Leadership and sports classes. Our Special Olympics Unified Sports programs combine people with (the athletes) and without (the partners) intellectual disabilities on sports teams for training and competition; dramatically increasing inclusion on campus and breaking down barriers. Some of the partners get a chance to become state certified coaches or officials if they have the interest.Sports offered:
Track and Field
Sophomores, Juniors, and Seniors who have a great desire to work with and play alongside the athletes are more than welcome to apply. Need to have 4th and or 8th period for Coach E’s physical education class. There are a few Saturday requirements but you will earn volunteer hours. Must have approval from Coach E to get scheduled through guidance.
