New procedures for afternoon pick up starting Day 1--August 13, 2018
Parents will receive a car sign to be placed in the front window of your vehicles when picking up students from school. This process will be effective the first day of school (August 13, 2018). Parents or assigned adults picking students up from school MUST have the car sign hanging in the vehicle so that student names can be called. Parents will pick up on the far side near the brick wall. Students whose names are not on the car sign, must park in the grass or parking space and come into the main office to verify that they are authorized to pick the child up. This means that those adult names MUST be added to the blue card. If the adult's name is not on the blue card, the child(dren) will not be released. We are asking that all parents/guardians remain in their vehicles at all times. This measure is to ensure all students are safe and with an authorized adult. Adults MUST be 18 years old or older when picking students up from school.
Arrival: All gates will remain closed and locked until 8:00 AM. Students need to remain behind the front gate until it is opened by the morning supervisor. Please remind your child about safety in the morning in the car riding area. No horse playing while cars are dropping off students is allowed. Parking in the drop off area is strictly prohibited..please see "No Parking" signs posted. If parents have a scheduled conference or need to speak with the teacher, they must go to the main office and the teacher will be called, sign in on the visitor's log and wait in the main office. Parents should not proceed to the classroom, cafeteria or any other area of the school without proper supervision or no visitor's badge.
Dismissal: Car riders, van riders, walkers and Team Up students will be dismissed at 3:00 PM. Each group of students will be escorted by a teacher to their designated area. Teachers will remain with the students in the area until they have been picked up or down the street (walkers). Students who have not been picked up by 3:10 PM will be moved to the main office where parents will be contacted.
Early Dismissal--If parents plan to pick students up from school early, they must do so before 2:15 p.m. on regular days or 1:15 p.m. on early release days. Because students are still engaged in instruction until the bell rings at 3:00 p.m., we will not interrupt classrooms for early pick up after these times. While we understand that emergencies do occur, 2:15 p.m. is the absolute cut off time. During early release days, students must be picked up at 1:45 p.m. as staff training begins at 2:00 p.m.
Alternate Transportation arrangements--If for any reason transportation arrangements change, parents must notify the main office no later than 2:00 p.m. We will not be able to get messages to students/teachers after 2:00 p.m. and original transportation arrangements will continue.
