Posted by Aurelia Williams on 8/14/2022Greetings TLAM family!
This is Principal Williams. As we are preparing for the 2022-2023 school year, we are so excited to welcome our returning and new Timberwolves on Monday, August 15th. Our school hours are from 9:30 am to 4:15 pm. All students will report to their respective holding areas upon their arrival on campus unless they want breakfast. Breakfast will take place in the cafeteria this school year. We will have signage and faculty/staff to help students navigate throughout their instructional day. Students are not allowed on campus before 9 am unless they are in morning care and car riders should be picked up no later than 4:45 pm daily except Early Release days. This school year, Twin Lakes will move from a seven period day to a four by four block schedule where students will see their teachers every other day and have four classes on A day and four classes on B day. The first day of school is an A day, so students will attend periods first through fourth and on Tuesday, August 16th, students will be periods fifth through eighth which is considered B day. Twin Lakes is also a clear or mesh backpack school. Students are only allowed to carry a clear or mesh backpack to school daily. Items in the backpack e.g. pouches or lunch boxes do not have to be clear or mesh.
If your child attended their grade level orientation, please make sure your child brings their fully charged district assigned laptop to school with them. Students are expected to have their charged district assigned laptop, school ID, and planner with them at school daily. School IDs will be distributed tomorrow during their first period class and the planners will be provided once they arrive from the company. Students will take their laptops home with them every day. This is their laptop and it is not to be shared with other students. I want to encourage you to read our 2022-2023 Parent/Student handbook which is attached and will be located on our school website. This document was also distributed during our orientations to help you understand how we logistically move through the instructional day and our expectations this school year.
Thank you to everyone who made our campus beautification a success on last Saturday. Our campus is ready to receive our students on the first day of school. We have no student activities scheduled for this week, so students should go home their normal way of transportation. If you have any questions regarding athletics, please email AD Larry Edwards at edwardsl2@duvalschools.org or Dean Story at storyg@duvalschools.org. Please mark your calendar for Open House which is scheduled for Tuesday, September 13th at 6pm. Thank you to everyone who signed up for PTSA/SAC. We will have our first PTSA/SAC meeting on Monday, August 29th at 5:30pm. This will be a face to face meeting with a virtual option. Here’s to a new school year where our students will be learning, growing, and thriving…We Are one!
