    Greetings TLAM Family!

This is Principal Williams. I hope you are enjoying your summer. I know you may have more questions than answers regarding the reopening of schools. At this time, I have no answers outside of the information shared by Dr. Greene in her Reopening Schools Plan. I want to encourage you to read her plan in depth which is located on the district website at www.duvalschools.org under Latest News. As information becomes available to me, I will definitely share it with you. This is a new norm for us all.

If your child will be entering the 7th grade for the 2020-2021 school year, please make sure your child receives their Tdap shot. Attached is a letter from our District School Health Services department which provides information and resources for immunizations your child should have at this time. With the start of school scheduled for August 10th, students entering the 7th grade must have the Tdap shot before entering school.

In preparation for the start of school, I’ve attached the Summer Reading List which includes recommended novels for each grade level. I do understand that some of my ELA teachers provided a list and that is fine. I just want our students to read. Literacy is the academic key for success for all students. I wanted my students to have a mental break, but it is time to transition back to building their cognitive capacity by reading grade level text. There is no assignment attached, but I encourage you to be creative to ensure your child is reading and understand the text read.

If you haven’t picked up your child’s academic or sports award, please make arrangements for pick up. The office hours are Monday through Thursday from 8am to 4pm. Also, we have received several returned mail due to incorrect addresses. If you haven’t received your refund for the 8th grade Grad Venture trip or Extended Day refund, please contact Mrs. Crews at the school. Please visit the school and district website for updates throughout the summer. Be safe and enjoy your summer!!
