Duval County Public Schools is ready to kick off another dynamic year in education! The first day of school is Monday, Aug. 14. But you can get started early using this informative, “Back to School” guide. Check out everything from bus stop locations, immunization information, student calendar, lunch menus, school supply list and more.

State law requires all children ages 6 - 16 to attend school. New students registering with Duval County Public Schools must provide valid documentation to include:
  • Proof of birth age
  • Florida certification of immunization or exemption
  • Proof of Residence

These materials and the New Student Registration Form, may be turned in at the student’s neighborhood school. Neighborhood school is based on address. Enter your address in the school locator or contact the Pupil Assignment Office at (904) 390-2144 to determine your child’s zoned-area school.

A Kindergarten student must be 5 years old on or before Sept. 1.  First grade students must have successfully completed kindergarten and be 6 years old on or before Sept. 1.

Elementary:          8:30 AM – 3 PM
Middle:                 9:30 AM – 4:15 PM
High:                   7:15 AM – 2 PM



Questions about your child’s bus stop or route? Please contact the Transportation Call Center: (904) 381-RIDE (7433). The hotline is open from Aug. 2 – 26. Staff is on  hand to assist with all transportation inquiries Mon. – Friday. 7 a.m. to 6:30 p.m. Additionally, bus routes and stops will also be available at the Transportation Department’s page beginning Aug 2.

Breakfast and Lunch programs

All DCPS students are able to have a free breakfast meal due to the district’s Universal Free breakfast program. Additionally, the No Lunch Money Procedure allows students to receive up to five free lunches during the first week of school. School Supply List
Buying the right supplies and recommended quantities are essential to making sure your student begins the school year ready to achieve educational excellence. For the 2016-2017 school year, Duval County Public Schools has partnered with Walmart to promote the district’s supply lists to better prepare students for their first day of school.
