• Congratulations to our 2022-23 Teacher of the Year
    Ms. Sadie Travis
         Ms. Travis & Mr. Parris

This is Ms. Sadie Travis’ fourth year at Love Grove Elementary and tenth year teaching overall. She was born in Miami, Florida but spent most of her childhood in Cape Cod, Massachusetts and Corpus Christi, Texas. In 2013 she visited Jacksonville, Florida and decided to make it her permanent home.

In 2008 she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice with an emphasis on corrections and rehabilitation from Texas A&M University Corpus Christi. Several of the courses specialized in working with at-risk youth, juvenile delinquency, and the juvenile justice system. During her internship at the Women’s Shelter of South Texas she narrowed her passion to working with children and decided to go back to school and received a Master of Science and Certification in Elementary Education in which she graduated Cum Laude in 2010. Her educational experience includes being a middle school math interventionist as well as teaching 3rd, 5th, 6th, 7th, 8th grade math and algebra.

She believes the world needs learners who can think critically, take initiative to solve a problem, make informed decisions, and develop self-esteem that carries beyond the classroom. She strives to create a learning sanctuary that offers a safe place to make mistakes and fosters intrinsic motivation to learn by showing her students she believes in them, even when they struggle to believe in themselves.
