• Dear Dragons:

I would like to thank the entire Dragon family for their commitment to academic excellence as we continue to raise the bar and close the achievement gap. According to the 2013 FCAT Reading data, our 6th graders increased proficiency from 35% to 43% from 2012 to 2013, while 7th graders increased from 40% to 45% proficiency. Our Algebra I and Geometry students continued the trend on the End of Course Exams by raising proficiency up from 71% in 2012 to 80% in 2013. We are proud of the work of our faculty, staff, and students; and it is our goal to continue to offer rigorous courses along with improved wrap-around services aimed at increasing student performance.

Our faculty and staff take pride in fostering a diverse learning environment that motivates our students to reach their full potential. There are over 15 languages spoken on our campus. Our curriculum offers World Language courses which gives our students an opportunity to earn a high school foreign language credit. duPont Middle School offers cutting edge technology in the classroom including Epads, iPads, Mimeo, and Smartboards. We are the first middle school in Duval County to establish Rho Kappa Honor Society for 7th and 8th students who have earned a 3.5 grade point average in their Social Studies classes. In addition to the aforementioned initiatives, we offer a wide variety of extracurricular activities including Student Council, football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, track, and swimming.

We are proud to announce that duPont Middle School has been selected to provide free breakfast and lunch to all students with a valid ID. Please read the entire newsletter for more information about our food services options.

Parents, we ask that you support our team by joining our Parent Advisory Council (PAC), School Advisory Council (SAC), and PTSA. PAC, SAC, and PTSA meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 5:00pm, 5:30pm and 6:00pm respectively.
