• As Principal of Alfred I. duPont Middle School, I want to take this opportunity to share my excitement as we prepare for the 2019-2020 school year. I want to thank the entire Dragon Nation for their commitment to excellence as we continue to establish ourselves as one of the premier middle schools in Duval county, one with a rich tradition of high academic standards. We are very proud of the academic achievement of our students on the 2019 Florida Standards Assessment. We successfully increased proficiency in Math and Acceleration courses which includes Biology, Algebra I, and Geometry. Our learning gains in reading for the lowest performing quartile increased by 7%! I feel confident that our students will continue on their journey to become an “A” school!

This year our “trailblazers” will continue to have access to a variety of electives including, Spanish, French, Chinese, Music, and Art. duPont will provide accelerated courses in Algebra I, Biology, Geometry, and Pre-Early College. Our Global Scholars Program will be integrated into our Engaged Citizenship Service Learning course. In addition to our academic programs, students may try out for football, basketball, soccer, volleyball, softball, baseball, track, swimming, and cheerleading. We will offer a Before School Enrichment Program which is available Monday through Friday from 7:30am –9:00am for a small fee of $60.00 per month.

Parents, we ask that you support our learning community by joining our PTSA, Parent Advisory Council (PAC), School Advisory Council (SAC). PTSA, PAC, and SAC meet on the second Tuesday of each month at 4:30pm, 5:00pm, 5:30pm respectively. Please stop by the Parent Resource Room during orientation for more information on our parent organizations. Enjoy the rest of your summer and I look forward to meeting you during orientation!
