Welcome Back to Alimacani Elementary School 2021 - 2022

    Dear Parents,

I would like to take this opportunity to welcome you back to Alimacani Elementary School, a National Model School. We are very proud of our designation as a Duval County Public School for the Gifted, Talented, and Leadership. Alimacani is an "A" school, and we are excited to serve the children and families of this community as we focus on the academic success of all students.

Our school’s theme this year is: Safari for Success!  You will see this theme throughout the school's decor and within the learning activities this school year.  Duval County Public Schools’ Curriculum is based on the B.E.S.T. Standards for Grades K-2 and the Florida State Standards for Grades 3-5. Parents will continue to have access to students' grades in the FOCUS Portal via the following link: https://dcps.duvalschools.org/Page/15745. We also ask that you download the DCPS Mobile APP, and we will contact you this school year with informational messages via phone call, email, or text message. Please make sure we have your best and most accurate information to assist this communication. Please check the Alimacani PTA Facebook page for updates, as well.

Due to the pandemic and the current situation with COVID-19, many of our school and district protocols are being continually updated. Once school begins on August 10, 2021, we continue to follow guidelines from DCPS, including no visitors in the building for the first 30 days of school. All employees are required to wear masks for the first 30 days of school. Face masks for children are strongly encouraged, at the direction and discretion of parents. Students will be temperature-checked at our school entrances again this year until further notice. We encourage social distancing inside and outside of classrooms. Thank you for your understanding of these guidelines for the health and well-being of our Alimacani Family. Let's do our part to remain COVID-free!

School hours are 8:30 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. for all students, including Pre-K and VPK. The building is open for students at 8:00 a.m. each school day.  Parents in need of day care before that time may contact the Extended Day Office or one of our local daycare providers.  Extended Day students are dropped off at the back entrance of the Multi-Purpose Room each morning. Students in grades K-3 will gather in the Multi-Purpose Room each day between 8:00 a.m. and 8:25 a.m.  Students in grades 4 and 5 will walk upstairs to meet outside of their classroom doors each morning after 8:00 a.m.  Parents are required to pick up children promptly at the 3:00 p.m. dismissal each day.

This school year, there will be no parent/student walk-ups before school. Unless your child is a walker, bike rider, or bus rider, please follow the car riding line for drop-off and pick-up at the back of the building. There is no Park and Ride Option in the afternoons. Thank you for your cooperation regarding schools hours and drop-off /pick-up.

Alimacani has an award-winning  Positive Behavior Support Plan.  We ask that you carefully review the Student Code of Conduct with your child on the DCPS website. Your support of our School Wide Expectations and Guidelines for Success is appreciated.  Courteous behavior is a must for the learning environment, and we appreciate your reinforcement of this at home.

Please consider joining your Parent Teacher Association (PTA).  This $5.00 membership will serve the children of Alimacani in a variety of ways. Each year, our PTA sponsors many day and evening events at the school.  These activities are well-attended, fun, family experiences for all.

If we may assist you in any way this school year, please let us know.  Office Hours are 8:00 a.m. - 3:30 p.m.  Please cal 904-221-7101 for information or to receive curbside service at the front of the school.

    Sincerely,

    Kathy Stalls, Principal
