It’s time to start thinking about your school’s plans to participate in the 81st First Coast Regional Spelling Bee! Students in grades 5-8 may be eligible to compete in the county and regional competitions. To ensure your school is represented, please follow the steps below:
1. Review the speller qualifications posted below, keeping in mind the regional requirement that the minimum grade level of a qualifying speller is fifth grade.
2. Enroll with Scripps National Spelling Bee at www.spellingbee.com and pay the registration fee as outlined below.
August 20, 2024 - October 31, 2024: $185
November 1, 2024- January 31, 2025 (unless enrollment is closed early by Scripps): $199
Please note that credit cards are the preferred method of payment. Schools that utilize Scripps’ pay-by-check option will incur additional fees and a delay in access to preparation materials. After the enrollment fee is paid, schools will receive exclusive online access to the 2025 Classroom Pronouncer Guide, the 2025 School Pronouncer Guide, study materials, and more.

School-level winners' names must be submitted by January 7, 2025, via an online form that will be posted by November 8, 2024.
The Semifinal County Spelling Bee: January 14, 2025
The Final County Bee: January 29, 2025, at Samuel W. Wolfson Academy for Advanced Studies located at 7000 Powers Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32217
