VPK Lottery Process for Duval County Public Schools
Applications are available now. VPK Fall Registration deadline is Saturday, February 29, 2020 for families interested in their child attending a Duval County Public Schools VPK program. Families who are interested in private care or day care facilities do not participate in the lottery and should contact the private school, day care or the Early Learning Coalition for assistance.
The Fall VPK enrollment process for the 2020-2021 school year will take place through a lottery process for students who will attend a Duval County Public School (DCPS) VPK program. Click here for lottery details for the DCPS programs. Your child must be age 4 on or before September 1, 2020 in order to enroll in the VPK program.
All Out of County and eligible District Employee applicants are required to complete a paper application. Please click here for additional details.
VPK Application Submission
All applications must be received by Saturday, February 29, 2020 through the DCPS Parent Portal. Parents who are out of county residents or district employees must complete a paper application. Paper applications will be available for download on Thursday, January 2nd.
■ Parents will be able to select up to three VPK programs, in order of preference, that the student is eligible to attend.
■ A student whose home school is Title I can only attend a Title I VPK program; a student whose home school is Non Title I can only attend a non-Title I VPK program.

■ Parents will receive an email with the results of the lottery and will accept or decline an invitation by the date established by the School Choice department.
■ If a parent does not accept an invitation during this period, the invitation will be canceled.
■ Students who are not accepted through the lottery into any of the parent’s VPK choices are wait listed.
■ Wait listed students may be contacted for admission into one of the requested schools by wait list order if any openings occur during the summer. As openings are available, they will be filled according to that number.
■ If eligible students on the wait list is selected, parents will be notified by email. Parents will have 48 hours to accept the seat. If parent acceptance is not received during that period, the opening will be offered to the next student on the list.
■ If an eligible student receives one of the choices listed on the application, the student will not be placed on the wait list for any of the parent’s other choices.
■ Students who are accepted into one of the programs will not appear on a wait list for any other sites.
After acceptance, parents have until May 31st to visit the school to register the student and provide copies of the following:
■ Certificate of Eligibility from the Early Learning Coalition
■ Proof of age (Birth certificate)
■ State of Florida Health Exam form
■ Florida Certificate of Immunization
■ Proof of residency
Proof of residence is required before a student is enrolled in his/her properly assigned school. For registration and subsequent enrollment, the parent or legal guardian must complete the district's student registration form and submit: 2 (two) documents from the sources listed in Column A (both sources of information must match) or 1 (one) document from Column A and 2 (two) documents from Column B (all sources of information must match)
Jacksonville Electric Authority (JEA) Bill or TECO Bill
Mortgage Agreement (or closing statement)
Credit Card Statement
Lease Agreement (from a company, or *private individual)
Bank Account Statement
Driver’s License or State ID
US Postal Service Confirmation of Address Change
Current Bank Account Statement (may block out account number)
Current Non-cellular Phone Bill
Seats will be released on June 1st if registration is NOT complete.
Students accepted into a Non-Title I VPK program must adhere to the VPK extended day fee schedule if child remains in school after 11:30am.
■The established extended day services fee is divided equally across ten months. The fee is $300 each month. Fees can be paid in full by the first of each month or broken into two payments on the 1st and 15th of the month. A late fee of $25.00 will be assessed for all late payments. There are no waivers or pro-rated fees for wrap around services. If the due date falls on the weekend or on a holiday, the payment will be due on the next business day.
■Non-compliance with the procedures related to parent payment of fees may result in the child not being able to continue in the extended day program.
