To address the days students missed from school due to Hurricane Dorian, the district has identified two weather "make-up” days:
Background: The 2019-20 calendar approved by the Board last school year included five weather days: Oct, 21 2019; Jan. 17, 2020; June 1, 2020; June 2, 2020; June 3, 2020. These days were identified as make-up days in the event severe weather prevented students from attending school and days were required to be made up.
Hurricane Dorian resulted in three lost days. Only two days – Oct. 21, 2019 and Jan. 17, 2020 – were identified as needed make-up days. The updated calendar will have sufficient time to meet the total instructional minutes required by the state without using a third make-up day.
