Students Get Groovy During Hour of Code
Computer students from three local middle schools - James Weldon Johnson, Northwestern, and Stilwell - participated in the Hour of Code, a global movement striving to get students excited about computer science, on December 6.
These students came together at the Museum of Science and History to code and dance to pop hits from top artists. The activity, called Dance Party Unplugged, taught students to apply basic coding concepts to choreograph a dance party together.
Atlantic High School students grouped with the young coders to help get the party started.
Volunteers from Citi, Stem2Hub, and Jacksonville Jaguars joined in the fun!
Hour of Code started as a one-hour introduction to computer science, designed to inspire students to take an interest in computer science and show that anybody can learn the basics of coding.
By exposing students to the basics of coding, we are nurturing problem-solving skills, logic, and creativity.
