Patriot Updates

Dear parents and guardians,
What another beautiful weekend! Saturday was spent at Sandalwood HS at the Teacher Recruiting Fair. Today was an awesome 30-mile bike ride from Little Talbot Island to Amelia Island and back. I hope your cadets are exercising on the weekends as well.
I know last week we got to send 40 eighth graders to Ed White HS to tour the school and see all the awesome programs they have to offer. Yesterday, I connected with the Principals at APR and FHP (A. Phillip Randolph and Frank H. Peterson) to see if our cadets can tour those High Schools as well. Parents of eighth graders, if you need help deciding what high school your cadet should attend, reach out to Mrs. Griffin, the eighth-grade counselor.
The most important thing going on this week is on Thursday, April 7th. All cadets will take the FSA Writing. 7th and 8th graders will take this on a computer and 6th grade will take a paper writing test. This counts 1/5 or 20% of your cadet’s state testing on the Reading FSA. Our cadets have been working hard on writing. It’s really important that cadets are present all week so that they are the most prepared for the first of state testing in 2021-2022. There won’t be any more FSA’s or EOC’s until May.
It's time to start thinking about the summer. I have attached a document for 6th and 7th graders to kick off the Summer Boost Application process. Parents can use the QR code or the link in the attached flyer to register. Duval County Public Schools and Kids Hope Alliance invites you to apply for a free, six-week academic remediation and enrichment opportunity. This summer program is meant to “boost” your child in areas of need. Register soon if you are interested.
Sports events this week:
4/04/22 5:30 Baseball and Softball at home versus Baldwin
4/05/22 5:00 Boys and Girls track at Charger Academy with Westside
and Westview K-8
4/06/22 5:30 Baseball and Softball at home versus Charger Academy
Coming up next week – SAC/PTSA meeting in the media center on Apr 13 at 5pm. This is a date and time change for April to adjust for the sports events next week.
Have a fabulous week everyone!
