Don Brewer Elementary School Uniform Policy

Our top priority at Don Brewer Elementary School is to provide your child with the most positive learning experience possible in a safe environment.  We work each day to encourage students to be successful at their job of learning.

Uniforms are an important part of a school’s identity:  It has a positive impact on students’ learning and behavior in and around the school, reduces non-academic distractions, serves to unite students, increases student pride, and helps to eliminate barriers between students.  Uniforms promote greater school spirit, and research shows that having pride in one’s school can be a powerful motivator.

Don Brewer Elementary School students are expected to participate in our school’s uniform policy daily beginning the first day of school.  ALL students must wear uniforms.  There is no opt-out provision.

The DAILY uniform is as follows:

  •  SHIRTS – Students may purchase our school embroidered, collared polo shirts in royal/navy blue, white or yellow/gold. They may also wear the same colored collared polo shirts without the logo, if preferred.  The cost of embroidered shirts, through Hines Printing, are $11 each, with a lowered cost of $10 per shirt when 5 shirts are purchased together (5 for $50). Long sleeve t-shirts of the same color choice may be worn underneath collared shirts during cooler weather, if desired.
  •  PANTS/SKIRTS/SKORTS/JUMPER – Students may wear solid colored (that meet district length requirements), pants, skirts, skorts or jumpers. All bottoms must fit at the waist and be worn at that level.  Leggings, spandex, form fitting, or torn bottoms are not permitted.
  •  SHOES – Shoes must be closed toe and closed heel for safety reasons.

Student Dress Down Days:

Students may be out of school uniform on fall picture days.  Special days throughout the year may also be designated for students to wear school spirit shirts or dress down days.  These opportunities will be announced IN WRITING in a letter to parents/guardians, phone messages, and posted on the school’s website.

The Principal and School Advisory Council will offer assistance to families who may experience a financial hardship.  Parents are asked to notify the school if assistance is needed.

Thank you, in advance, for your support of our school!
