April 8, 2025Team Duval is proud to celebrate 31 seniors who have earned impressive distinction as National Merit Scholarship Finalists. The students represent six schools and are among an elite group that has advanced in the National Merit Scholarship Program. 

An estimated 1.3 million students enter the scholarship competition each year by taking the Preliminary SAT/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test. The National Merit Scholarship Corporation identifies high-scoring students who qualify to move forward in the competition, with the potential of earning one of 6,780 National Merit Scholarships worth nearly $26 million.  

To become a finalist, students must fulfill a variety of requirements, including writing an essay, demonstrating high academic performance, and obtaining an endorsement from a school official.  An estimated 15,000 students qualified as finalists and will be considered for the National Merit Scholarship to be announced later this spring.
